UK Turkeys site soars to new heights

The UK Turkeys website always proves popular in the run up to Christmas, but in 2011 was more successful than ever. The NFU-run site attracted over double the amount of visitors in December 2011 compared with the same period last year. 

One of the biggest attractions was our ‘win a Christmas hamper’ competition. The seasonal prize was highly sought after, with over 17,000 entrants. Five lucky winners were drawn before Christmas and each was presented with a hamper of goodies, including a Kelly Bronze turkey for their Christmas dinner. 

For those that weren’t so lucky, the website also hosts a ‘turkey finder’ search facility. With more than 340 turkey producers listed more people are now able to source their turkey from closer to home.

Although the festive season is now behind us, you can still visit the site for recipe hints and tips and to find out more about different breeds, meet some of our farmers and discover why it's important to buy local.
