Why Dairy Farming Matters
Dairy farming is hugely important to Britain. Most of us regularly enjoy a glass of cold milk, a slice of local cheddar or creamy butter on our bread.
The NFU's Why Dairy Farming Matters campaign launched in April 2007 to demonstrate the importance of the industry to our economy, local communities, the shape of our countryside and the health of the nation.
The campaign highlights the plight of dairy farmers as they face an ongoing struggle to make a profit from milk in the face of falling prices, rising costs and an unbalanced supply chain.
