NFU gets A* for Why Farming Matters education packs
24 September 2009
NFU's Why Farming Matters Education packs have scored top marks in a recent survey conducted by the NFU and Farming and Countryside Education (FACE).
Over 99 per cent of the teachers surveyed gave positive feedback about the packs they had ordered, with comments including "well presented and written, ideal for school use" and "we enjoyed hearing the farmers talking about their work."
The resource, produced in conjunction with FACE, teaches the younger generation about the importance of farming, and its vital role in providing food and managing the environment. Packed full of activities, picture cards, posters and a DVD, over 25,000 packs have already been distributed to schools since their initial launch in July 2007.
Bill Graham, Executive Director of FACE said: "The Why Farming Matters Education packs are a real success, and it's great to hear the positive feedback received, all of which will be useful for any similar future initiatives.
"The success is proven by their continued popularity since they were launched just over 2 years ago. This is as a result of producing a resource that is educationally relevant.
"We are extremely grateful to The Ernest Cook Trust, Chadacre Agricultural Trust, GrowHow, Bayer CropScience, Felix Cobbold Trust and Yara Ltd whose sponsorship allowed us to reprint the resource in January 2009."
