Find out all about farming and pocket a prize
22 October 2009
There are just a few days left to win a family membership of the National Trust by entering a competition featured in the NFU's Good Food, Good Farming booklet.
The publication is packed with facts about how British farmers manage the countryside as well as a providing a plentiful supply of healthy, nutritious food.
With 75% of the UK landscape managed by farmers, Good Food, Good Farming explains how they take their roles as guardians of the countryside very seriously. British farmers maintain important features including hedges, copses and farm ponds which are home to species such as birds, barn owls, deer, ducks and frogs. To download a copy simply click here.
The only way to truly appreciate the work of generations of farmers is to get out into the Great British countryside. That is why we are offering one lucky family an annual membership for the National Trust. The prize will give you free access to more than 300 historic houses and gardens as well as free parking at many countryside and coastline locations. There is still a chance to win this prize by answering this question:
Approximately how many kilometres of hedgerow have farmers restored since 1987?
a. 1,000 km
b. 5,000 km
c. 17,000 km
To enter please send your name, address, phone number and answer (a, b or c) to goodfarmingcomp@nfu.org.uk or on a postcard to National Farmers' Union, Campaigns Department, Good Farming Competition, Agriculture House, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, CV8 2TZ.
