Children will benefit this Christmas from NFU's efforts
10 December 2009
The NFU in conjunction with ABN and Quality British Turkeys raised a whopping £1500 for Sparks children's medical research charity (http://www.sparks.org.uk/), at this year's BBC Good Food Show.
The BBC Good Food Show which was held at the NEC in Birmingham on the 25th - 29th November attracted over 100,000 visitors.
NFU members and staff entertained the crowds with turkey calving demonstrations and sampling of delicious seasonal fruit and vegetables. Visitors to the stand learnt about Why Farming Matters and were given goodie bags packed full of literature, recipe booklets and aprons for a small contribution to Sparks.
Visitors also learned how they can source a turkey locally this Christmas by visiting http://www.ukturkeys.co.uk and the NFU's very own Gemma the human turkey struck fame with an appearance in the Telegraph newspaper. Click here to read more.
